Testing:
A routine sexual health screen will include tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis. Additional tests may be offered after a sexual health assessment. You will be asked some personal questions about your sexual history to help us give you the correct care. All answers are confidential and will not be shared unless your answers suggest that there may be a risk to yourself or to others. Our full confidentiality statement can be found here
Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea - testing is by a swab or urine sample. It is more accurate 14 days after most recent sexual contact.
You may be able to order a free STI testing kit online following a short risk assessment.

HIV and Syphilis – testing is a blood sample. You may be asked to repeat these tests at a later date.

Results may take up to 14 days
Sexual health examinations may be necessary if you have symptoms. Not all patients need to be examined but if you need to be examined, you will be offered a chaperone
Treatment:
Free treatment will be offered when clinically indicated. Sometimes you may be asked to return for treatment or for follow-up care
Prevention of STIs:
You will be offered information and advice on how to reduce risk of STI’s. We are able to provide a range of methods such as:
Condoms
Female condoms
Barrier methods such as dental dams
