Training for professionals

We offer a variety of training for professionals depending on their location.

 

Training to become a C-Card registration or distribution point

Available to: Professionals in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin

These sessions allow you or your venue to become a registration or distribution point for the C-Card condom distribution scheme.

This is recommended for pharmacies, GP surgery staff and professionals who work with young people.

Sexual Health Awareness Training

Available to: Professionals in Stoke-on-Trent 

Aimed at staff working with young people, this session will offer an overview of sexual health services in Stoke-on-Trent.

It will improve knowledge around sex and relationships, sex and the law and how to make referrals into services.

LGBT+ Awareness Training

Available to: Professionals in Stoke-on-Trent 

This session will offer an overview of LGBT+ communities and the effects that language can have on young people’s development and building a sense of self.

The session aims to improve skills and confidence in talking to, and supporting, young people around sexuality and gender identity issues, in addition to positively challenging homophobic or negative language. Professionals will also gain confidence in creating a diversity friendly environment within their own services.

Porn, sex and young people

Available to: Professionals in Stoke-on-Trent

This session offers an overview of key issues relating to young people, porn and sex, offering practical guidance on holding discussions with young people in both 1:1 and group settings.

We will expand upon the knowledge gained in the Sexual Health Awareness session by exploring the law, consent and body image in more depth. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how porn is linked to other areas of health and relationships and practical tips on how to engage with young people and challenge negative attitudes and behaviours.
